Erika: From the Kitchen to the Clinic—Care That Makes a Difference
In just five months, Erika has accessed orthopedic care, X-rays, mammograms, dental services through referral partner Wake Smiles, and an eye exam—all coordinated through her primary care team.
When Erika first tried to connect with a clinic near her home, it was full. A staff member at Samaritan Health Center invited her to come to Samaritan Health instead, and she’s been a patient ever since.
Before coming to Samaritan for the first time in April 2025, Erika didn’t have a primary care clinic. “I went to the hospital or urgent care if I felt really bad,” she explained. Now, even though she drives 35 to 50 minutes to her appointments, she feels comfortable and well cared for. “I would like to stay,” she said.
Erika works as a cook in a local restaurant, preparing rice, beans, and other foods for her neighbors every day. Her work nourishes others, and Samaritan helps keep her healthy and able to serve. In just five months, she’s accessed orthopedic care, X-rays, mammograms, dental services through referral partner Wake Smiles, and an eye exam—all coordinated through her primary care team.
“My primary doctor here prays for me. I really appreciate that,” Erika said. “They are concerned about my health.” She also values the clinic’s preparation and professionalism. “They are very well-prepared here,” she shared. “Excellent service.”
Erika keeps coming back because of the care, attention, and trust she experiences every visit. Her story reminds us that community health is more than medical services—it’s relationships, compassion, and a place where neighbors can both share their own skills and truly feel supported.
Together, we are community. Give today.
