Ricardo’s Story: Care to Count On. People to Trust.

Ricardo and his son, Mateo, with Samaritan interpreter Kevin Pinto.

When Ricardo first learned about Samaritan Health Center through his employer, he was looking for healthcare for himself. What he found was a place that would eventually make a difference for his loved ones, too.

Today, Ricardo, his wife, and their son Mateo all receive care at Samaritan. For Ricardo, knowing they have access to compassionate, dependable healthcare brings a sense of security.

“I feel protected—not just me but my family,” he shares.

That feeling has become especially meaningful this year. Since February, Ricardo has faced several health challenges, including dizziness, knee and hip pain, and surgery. Through it all, Samaritan has helped him access the care and support he needs.

One person who has made a particular difference is Kina Edwards, Ricardo’s primary care provider. Ricardo appreciates the way she listens to his concerns and works to find solutions. It's the kind of personal attention that has helped him feel genuinely cared for.

When Ricardo and his wife moved to Durham, they didn't know how much support they would find in their new community.

“My wife and I have found there is a lot of help. We feel more supported than we expected,” he says.

Ricardo has even recommended Samaritan to his brother and encourages others to visit the clinic.

“This clinic has been very important for our support—it has helped us a lot.”

For Ricardo, that support goes both ways. Just as Samaritan cares for his loved ones, he recognizes the importance of looking out for one another. We are supporting each other.

That spirit of mutual care is at the heart of Samaritan. Patients find trusted providers, and a community of donors and volunteers helps make that care possible.

Your generosity connects neighbors like Ricardo to the healthcare they need and people they can trust. Give today.
